Welcome to St Francis Care Home

Since 1974, St Francis Care Home in Govan, Glasgow, has been providing nursing care to elderly people throughout the West of Scotland. Individuals whose needs may vary from very physically dependent to the frail, confused elderly are all welcome in the Home.

The main services which is offered to the elderly are long term nursing care for the elderly and the respite care.

We are housed in new, purpose built accommodation, which was opened in 1996. In total there are 40 places, all single rooms. Some of the attractive features of the rooms include;

  • Each rooms are fitted to modern standards, with furniture and high quality beds.
  • There are individual en-suite toilet facilities.
  • Nurse call system beside every bed, and in the toilet.
  • TV sockets in every room.

By converting two single rooms into a twin room, we can also accept two sisters, or brothers or a couple who wish to share a room. All doorway are specifically designed for wheelchair use and bed sized lift links the two floors. There are two spacious and sunny dining rooms which provide outlooks for residents.

Landscaped grounds and gardens add to the peaceful atmosphere of the Home. Central to the ethos of St. Francis is the chapel, situated by the entrance.

    Who can use these services

    There are no restrictions on access to the Home: places are available equally to any individuals who need care, and who either with Social Work funding or by private means can pay for the services. We are able to accept both female and male Residents.

    Caring Staff

    The Home is run on non-denominational lines by the Order of St Francis and the Franciscan Sisters are among the staff at the Home.

    Christian Focus

    St Francis is very distinctive, and our Christian focus and aspects such as Mass attracts Residents from across West of Scotland and beyond.

    All Faiths are Welcome

    Non-Catholic residents are catered for, their own Religious needs are promoted and pastoral visits are encouraged.

    Personal Care Services

    Services provided by St Francis are personal and are based on each individual’s own particular needs.

    Resident Privacy

    All residents enjoy the privacy of their own room, and relatives are always made welcome. Residents are encouraged to personalize their rooms and bring in personal belongings, photograph, pictures, ornaments etc. Unfortunately, we cannot accept responsibility for any Jewellery or personalized items brought into the Care Home.

    Keys are available for Residents wishing to lock their bedroom doors when leaving the Home for short periods.
